Howie Lau

Howard “Howie” Lau, CPA, is a Director in BPM’s Advisory practice, specializing in interim CFO, fractional CFO, strategic finance, and financial planning and analysis services. He partners with venture-backed, growth-stage, middle-market, privately held, and nonprofit organizations to strengthen financial visibility, improve decision-making, and build finance functions that support scale.

With more than 20 years of finance and accounting experience, Howie has held leadership roles across venture-backed startups, privately held businesses, PE-backed companies, and global enterprises. His experience spans budgeting and forecasting, operating models, cash flow and liquidity management, strategic planning, fundraising support, board reporting, KPI development, finance transformation, and operational finance leadership.

Howie frequently serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership teams, boards, investors, and finance committees during periods of growth, transition, and change. He has helped organizations improve financial reporting, develop multi-year operating plans, enhance board-level visibility, evaluate capital planning options, and build scalable finance functions that support organizational objectives.

Before joining BPM, Howie held finance and operations leadership roles at high-growth, global companies, including The Comfy, ECOVACS Robotics, Mayvenn, Sysco, and Tupperware. His background gives him a practical operator’s perspective, allowing him to help clients connect strategy, finance, operations, and execution.

Howie holds an active CPA license in Florida and is a Certified Valuation Analyst. He earned his MBA and Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Central Florida and completed the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Howie has built his career across Asia and North America and is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. He enjoys connecting people, ideas, and opportunities across industries, cultures, and communities.
