Sarah enjoys helping innovative companies in the technology and life science industries with their corporate income tax needs. She works closely with companies in the biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, software and SaaS, consumer products, social media, communications and manufacturing sectors.

Sarah specializes in advising pre-revenue startups with rapid growth and IPO aspirations, as well as consolidated, multinational publicly traded corporations. Sarah has extensive experience with tax provisions (ASC 740) and a variety of tax compliance matters, including domestic and international tax filings, multistate income tax, as well as federal and state credit incentives.

Sarah has guided several pharmaceutical and biotech companies from startup to IPO, ensuring they were well-prepared for their first 10-Ks. She believes in a proactive approach, supporting clients through audits and providing comprehensive tax planning for successful acquisitions, collaboration agreements, multiple funding rounds and global expansion.

She also serves as an outsourced tax director, overseeing the annual audit, 10-K filings, and interim reporting for SEC filers, as well as the SOX review of internal control narratives in collaboration with third-party accounting firms. She intimately knows the demands faced by internal tax departments and finance teams and provides practical solutions to meet those needs.

Sarah offers strategic advice on the impacts of recent tax law changes, upcoming legislation, and changes in accounting principles, including the evolving treatment of research and development (R&D) expenditures for tax purposes under Section 174.

In addition to serving her clients, Sarah actively participates in the Life Science Industry Group and BPM’s internal Interfaith Colleague Resource Group. She is passionate about mentoring staff and military spouses, as well as investing in organizations focused on women’s health and leadership.
