BPM Partners Tony Gales, Tara Parker, and Will Tanem Named to Los Angeles Business Journal’s ‘Top 100 Accountants in Los Angeles’ List

July 2, 2026

BPM is pleased to announce that Los Angeles Business Journal has recognized three BPM Partners – Tony GalesTara Parker, and Will Tanem – among its “Top 100 Accountants in Los Angeles” for 2026.

With nearly 35 years of public accounting experience, Tony serves as Tax Practice Group Leader and brings strategic tax planning for clients across industries. He is widely recognized for translating complex federal tax regulations into measurable financial results and for his work as a change agent for diversity in the accounting profession, including his role as Executive Sponsor of the firm’s Black Colleague Resource Group.

“Los Angeles has always been a place where you can build something meaningful, and that is what has driven my career here,” said Tony. “This recognition belongs to the clients who trust us with their most important financial decisions, and to the colleagues who show up every day committed to doing exceptional work.”

Tara became BPM’s first Black woman partner, marking an important milestone for the Firm. With more than 17 years of public accounting experience, she focuses on partnership taxation and real estate investments, advising clients in real estate, professional services, consumer business, and manufacturing. Most recently, she launched BPM’s first REIT-focused tax practice. Tara has guided clients through multimillion-dollar commercial property acquisitions, designed tax structures for investment funds, and counseled clients on complex stock option strategies.

“I am deeply grateful to be recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal again this year,” said Tara. “Los Angeles is a city full of entrepreneurs, investors, and visionaries, and getting to work alongside them, helping them build and protect wealth, is work I find genuinely fulfilling. I also hope this recognition continues to signal to the next generation of CPAs that there is a place for them at the table.”

As the founder and leader of BPM’s Technical Accounting Practice, Will advises public and private companies across life sciences, technology, financial services, and consumer products. His work spans new accounting standard implementations, complex business combinations, and IPO and SPAC readiness. Building the Technical Accounting Practice from the ground up stands as one of his most significant contributions to the firm and to the clients it serves.

“Technical accounting sits at the intersection of complexity and consequence. That’s what I find so rewarding about this work,” said Will. “Being part of a company’s journey toward an IPO or through a major transaction as a trusted advisor is the kind of impact that stays with you. I am honored to be recognized alongside so many outstanding professionals in this city.”

Tony, Tara, Will, and the other honorees were celebrated at Los Angeles Business Journal‘s Top 100 Accountants Award reception and featured in a special print edition.
