Advanced Manufacturing Investment Credit
Capture the full value of your investment in domestic semiconductor manufacturing.
The Advanced Manufacturing Investment Credit (AMIC) under Section 48D of the Internal Revenue Code provides a significant federal incentive for businesses investing in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing facilities and equipment. For qualifying businesses, the credit can substantially reduce the tax cost of capital investment in domestic production, making it one of the most valuable semiconductor tax credits available to manufacturers in the semiconductor supply chain.
BPM’s tax professionals help semiconductor manufacturers, semiconductor equipment producers assess eligibility, calculate credits, and meet documentation and compliance requirements necessary to claim the credit.
What the Advanced Manufacturing Investment Credit Covers
The AMIC was established under the CHIPS and Science Act to strengthen domestic semiconductor production and reduce reliance on foreign supply chains. The credit applies to qualifying investments in semiconductor manufacturing facilities and equipment placed in service in the United States.
Eligible businesses include those manufacturing semiconductors, producing semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and related upstream and downstream participants in the semiconductor supply chain.
