Brian Finnegan Appointed as Chief Operating Officer

We are pleased to announce that Brian Finnegan, currently the Firm’s Assurance Practice Group Leader (PGL), has been appointed Chief Operating Officer, succeeding Carl Sorboro, who is slated to retire at the end of the year. 

Finnegan, a longtime Firm leader with more than 25 years of experience in public accounting, has played a central role in strengthening BPM’s Assurance practice, advancing quality initiatives, and deepening the Firm’s commitment to people-first leadership. As Assurance PGL, he has overseen the continued evolution of BPM’s audit and attest services, expanded national capabilities, and helped guide the Firm through a period of significant growth. 

As COO, Finnegan will oversee Firmwide operations, business processes, and strategic execution, working closely with CEO Nick Steiner and BPM’s leadership team to support continued growth, innovation, and a unified people‑first culture.

Finnegan joined BPM in 2002 and has held leadership roles across Assurance and Firmwide committees. He is a CPA licensed in California and holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of San Francisco.
