Top 35 accounting and advisory firm continues to make strides in its commitment to elevate women in leadership roles

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., November 20, 2023 BPM LLP, one of the top 35 largest public accounting and advisory firms in the country, is named to the Accounting MOVE Project’s 2023 list as one of the nation’s “Best CPA Firms for Women” for the eighth time. Additionally, BPM is recognized as one of the “Best Firms for Equity Leadership” in 2023.

The Accounting MOVE Project tracks and reports the advancement of women at accounting and consulting firms. It is the only annual benchmarking project that both counts and advocates for women in the profession.

“We congratulate BPM on their commitment to creating an equitable workplace where each employee can thrive,” said Bonnie Buol Ruszczyk, Accounting MOVE Project President. “Collectively, we are committed to identifying and sharing best practices so the profession as a whole can become more equitable and attract a more diverse slate of leaders.”

As the national conversation about DEI continues to escalate, BPM is amplifying its advocacy based on its historical commitment, compelling metrics and leadership support. Recent combinations allow the Firm to further expand opportunities for women’s development and advancement, positioning BPM as the employer of choice in the profession.

“At BPM, we believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce drives innovation,” says BPM CEO Jim Wallace. “Women hold over 50% of the leadership positions at BPM. We are incredibly proud to receive the Accounting MOVE Project award and are excited to see these numbers continue to rise.”

BPM remains steadfast in making significant progress within the areas of diversity and inclusion. In recent Firm news, women constitute half of this year’s Partner class. BPM Partner Sarah A. Lynn was honored last month with the 2023 Diversity in Business Award from North Bay Business Journal for outstanding leadership in diversity, and San Francisco Business Times recognized BPM Tax Partner Erin Roche as one of its “Most Influential Women in the Bay Area” for 2023. In BPM’s latest client satisfaction survey, over 90% of respondents expressed that the Firm shows diversity and inclusivity through its actions, branding and client experience.

“Although women comprise nearly half of the U.S. workforce, they still fulfill a larger share of household responsibilities,” comments Jessica Hekmatjah, Chief Marketing Officer for BPM and Executive Sponsor of its long-standing Women’s Initiative Now! (WIN!) Colleague Resource Group, which is part of the Firm’s broader Inclusion Now! (IN!) program. “At BPM, we recognize this added responsibility and are committed to meeting our colleagues where they are to help them be successful in work and life. This recognition reinforces that commitment.”
