BPM Partner Dmitri Alexeev has been selected by the IRS commissioner’s office to become a member on the Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC). He is one of the few tax professionals on the committee and will work closely with the Security Summit, state tax administrators and tax software industry to fight electronic fraud.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to work closely with the knowledgeable minds on the ETAAC and lend some of my expertise and professional accounting insight to robust conversations in the future,” said Alexeev.
In 1998, Congress established the ETAAC to provide continuing public input into the development and implementation of the IRS organizational strategy for electronic tax administration.
During his three-year membership term, Alexeev and the ETAAC will organize public discussion forums to address issues such as prevention of identity theft and refund fraud in support of the overriding goal that paperless filing should be the preferred and most convenient method of filing tax and information returns.
Alexeev has two decades of public accounting experience and co-leads BPM’s Blockchain and Digital Assets practice. He has extensive tax advisory and compliance experience with emphasis on financial and regulatory reporting, including corporate and partnership taxation, accounting methods and elections and state taxation. He also has broad experience in ASC 740, income taxes, and significant experience with federal and California tax controversy.
In addition to working closely with private and public companies on complex tax work, Alexeev is also the Chair of the Accounting Blockchain Coalition’s Taxation Working Group.
