Supporting Creativity and Literacy in Our Schools

BPM’s Annual Holiday Card Art Contest

At BPM we are proud supporters of our community. To demonstrate our appreciation, we partner with neighborhood elementary schools and volunteer as mentors to promote literacy with local elementary school students. Over the past 26 years, our team of professionals have dedicated themselves to this cause by reading to students, judging essay contests, having pizza parties and making presentations at school assemblies.

As an extension of our commitment to elevating students and schools, the tradition of the Holiday Card Art Contest was born, providing an opportunity for aspiring young artists to receive recognition for their work, while winning art supplies for their classroom. The contest encourages students to explore their creativity and individual understanding of what it means to give thanks.

As the holiday season approaches, the schools in which we serve as reading mentors devote some of their class time to give students the chance to have their artwork featured on our Holiday cards shared with our clients and friends. To spark the creative juices in our young artists this year, we asked students these three questions: What’s your favorite thing to do during the winter months? What do you enjoy most about being with extended family and friends again? What’s the most fun part of attending school in person? After BPM staff members choose their favorites, a winning submission from each of the three schools is featured on the BPM Holiday card and sent to our clients, contacts and friends. In addition, all participants receive a Crayola prize and the teachers of the winning students receive a donation to purchase much needed classroom supplies.
