Efforts Lead to Increased Vault Rankings and Leadership Through Pandemic

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, April 23, 2020 – BPM, one of the 50 largest public accounting and advisory firms in the country, moved up 26 spots to #22 on Vault’s 2021 “Accounting 50” ranking. The Firm contributes the significant rank increase to its people-centric approach, which has been exemplified by its support of its people, clients and community through the COVID-19 crisis.

“This recognition is a testament to our motto Because People Matter,” said BPM CEO Jim Wallace. “We live it daily, even during this pandemic. We continue to identify ways to support our employees as they work hard to support our clients.”

Through BPM’s commitment to people and the community, the Firm rocketed upward on the 2021 “Vault Accounting 50,” a ranking of the best accounting firms to work for in North America based on a survey of thousands of accounting professionals. Vault lauded the Firm’s dedication to the quality of life of its employees and consistent support to clients through busy tax seasons, complex audits and normal day-to day engagements.

The Firm launched an internal COVID-19 Response Center at the start of the crisis, in an effort to increase transparency, collaboration, communication and offer emotional and mental health resources to its employees.

In addition, BPM has gone all-in with helping clients respond to the business changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, including launching an external COVID-19 Resource Center, hosting real-time webinars and addressing crisis-related questions.

Throughout the year, the Firm launched and sustains numerous programs, both formal and informal, aimed at mentoring and empowering minority groups within the Firm. These include BPM’s transition of its Women’s Initiative Now! (WIN!) program to Inclusion Now! (IN!) to support the broader group of diverse Firm employees. Such efforts contributed to BPM’s #3 overall ranking in Vault’s “Best Accounting Firms for Diversity” – an area in which it was not ranked in 2020.

“We celebrate diversity at BPM and work diligently to give people a voice”, said BPM Chief People Officer Beth Baldwin. “We hire the best people for the job and ensure that diversity and inclusion are part of our fabric and values.”
