Appian Anywhere Delivers Secure Single Sign-On via SAML

Industry’s Only Full-Featured SaaS BPM Suite Enhances Security and Administration Through Open, Interoperable Standard

Appian, an innovative global provider of business process management (BPM) technology, today announced that Appian Anywhere, the industry’s only complete BPM Suite delivered as a service, supports the OASIS Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) standard. Using SAML to integrate Appian Anywhere with Single Sign-On (SSO) centralizes user management, increases security, and provides an industry-standard approach to enterprise SSO efforts.

SAML is an XML-based security standard that enables federated identity management across security and policy domains to enable more seamless cross-domain business interactions. SAML allows business entities to make assertions regarding the identity, attributes, and entitlements of a user to other entities, such as a partner company or another enterprise application. A standard approach to federated identity management is vital for the future of on-demand software delivery.

Appian Anywhere’s use of SAML offers distinct advantages for Appian’s SaaS BPM customers, including:

  • Easy integration with existing corporate authentication systems
  • Complete interoperability due to the use of an open standard
  • Simplified and centralized user administration
  • Faster adoption and time to value by speeding the creation and authentication of new user accounts

“Appian has always focused first and foremost on making BPM easy to deploy, adopt and use, whether on-premise or as a service,” said Matthew Calkins, president and CEO of Appian. “Our support of the SAML standard in Appian Anywhere increases the already substantial value proposition of BPM as a service.”
